Tour Overview

Chongqing is a city built into mountains, carved by rivers, and layered with over three thousand years of history. This four-day deep exploration takes you beyond the surface into the very fabric of the Mountain City.

Route B focuses on the cultural and natural highlights surrounding the urban core: the ancient porcelain town of Ciqikou, the breathtaking Dazu Rock Carvings — a UNESCO World Heritage treasure — and the dramatic riverside architecture that has made Chongqing famous worldwide. Along the way, you'll ride the legendary Yangtze River Cable Car, savor authentic Chongqing hot pot, and wander through centuries-old streets where traditional teahouses still hum with local life.

Day 1

Arrival & Urban Immersion

"First impressions of the world's most vertical city"

Your private guide and driver will meet you at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport or the railway station, assist with luggage, and transfer you to your centrally located hotel. After settling in, the afternoon begins with a visit to the Three Gorges Museum, where immersive exhibits trace the geology, history, and human stories of the Yangtze River and the monumental Three Gorges Dam project.

As evening falls, stroll through Jiefangbei — Chongqing's vibrant central business district and one of China's most iconic pedestrian squares. Dinner is your first introduction to the city's legendary cuisine: a seated hot pot experience at a local favorite, where your guide will help you navigate the spice levels and dipping sauces.

Dazu Rock Carvings & Cultural Heritage

"A thousand years of faith, carved in stone"

After breakfast, depart by private vehicle for the Dazu Rock Carvings, approximately two hours west of Chongqing. This UNESCO World Heritage site comprises over 50,000 individual statues and inscriptions dating from the 7th to the 13th centuries, representing one of the most important concentrations of Chinese religious sculpture in the world.

Your guide will lead you through the Baoding Shan and Bei Shan cliffside grottoes, explaining the intricate interplay of Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian imagery and the stories behind the most celebrated tableaux. The level of preservation and artistic refinement is extraordinary — many statues retain their original painted pigments.

Enjoy a relaxed lunch at a countryside restaurant near Dazu before returning to Chongqing in the late afternoon. The evening is free for personal exploration or rest at your hotel.

Ciqikou, Cable Car & Riverside Magic

"Old streets, soaring views, and a city that glows after dark"

The morning is devoted to Ciqikou Ancient Town — also known as Porcelain Port — a well-preserved riverside settlement that dates back over a thousand years. Meander along its narrow cobblestone lanes lined with Ming and Qing dynasty wooden architecture, browse handicraft shops, and pause at a traditional teahouse where locals still gather to play mahjong and drink covered-bowl tea.

In the afternoon, experience one of Chongqing's most beloved landmarks: the Yangtze River Cable Car. This historic aerial tramway offers a thrilling perspective on the city's extraordinary topography as it glides high above the river between the Yuzhong and Nan'an districts.

After a short rest at the hotel, emerge for the evening highlight: Hongya Cave. This eleven-story complex of traditional stilt houses (diaojiaolou) clings to a riverside cliff and transforms into a cascade of golden light after sunset. Your guide will navigate the labyrinth of shops, restaurants, and viewing platforms to find the best photo angles before a relaxed dinner nearby.

Alternatively, visit the Chongqing People's Great Hall or enjoy a riverside walk along the Chaotianmen Dock area, where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers visibly merge. Your guide and driver will then transfer you to the airport or railway station in plenty of time for your onward journey.
