After breakfast, drive to the UNESCO-listed Stone Forest — a surreal landscape of limestone pillars formed over 270 million years. Wander the maze-like trails with your guide, who will share the Sani people's legends of how the forest came to be. In the afternoon, board a high-speed train to Dali. Arrive in time for a sunset walk along the ancient city walls.

Dali Ancient Town → Erhai Lake → Chongsheng Temple → Xizhou
Start with a scenic drive along the shores of Erhai Lake, one of China's largest highland lakes, with the Cangshan Mountains as your backdrop. Visit the iconic Three Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple, symbols of Dali's ancient Nanzhao Kingdom. Continue to Xizhou Town for a hands-on Bai minority tie-dye workshop and a home-cooked lunch with a local family in their traditional courtyard.

Dali to Lijiang — Ancient Towns & Naxi Heritage
Dali → Shaxi Ancient Town → Lijiang
Travel north toward Lijiang with a stop at Shaxi Ancient Town, an exceptionally well-preserved stop on the old Tea Horse Road. Walk its quiet stone streets and visit the ancient theater and temple. Arrive in Lijiang in the late afternoon and explore the UNESCO-listed Old Town as lanterns begin to glow. Your guide will introduce you to Naxi Dongba culture and the town's intricate canal system.

Lijiang — Jade Dragon Snow Mountain & Blue Moon Valley

An early start takes you to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, where a cable car ascends to Glacier Park at 4,506 meters. Walk the wooden boardwalks surrounded by snow and ice. Descend to the ethereal Blue Moon Valley, where mineral-rich waters shift from turquoise to sapphire. In the afternoon, witness the spectacular Impression Lijiang outdoor show directed by Zhang Yimou — a powerful performance set against the mountain backdrop.

Lijiang to Shangri-La — Tiger Leaping Gorge & First Bend of Yangtze

One of the most scenic drives in China awaits. Stop at the dramatic Tiger Leaping Gorge, where the Jinsha River thunders through one of the world's deepest canyons. Continue to the First Bend of the Yangtze River, a sweeping oxbow surrounded by terraced hills. As you climb toward Shangri-La, the landscape transforms into Tibetan highlands. Arrive in time to explore Dukezong Ancient Town and join locals in spinning the world's largest prayer wheel.

Shangri-La — Songzanlin Monastery & Departure
Shangri-La → Songzanlin Monastery → Diqing Airport
Rise early to visit Songzanlin Monastery, the largest Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Yunnan, often called the Little Potala Palace. Walk its grand halls, observe monks at prayer, and absorb the serenity of this spiritual center. After a final Yunnan meal, your guide will transfer you to Diqing Shangri-La Airport for your onward flight, carrying memories of karst forests, alpine lakes, ancient kingdoms, and Tibetan plateaus.
